COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Home Runs by Herman, Bammer Pace Golden West
Frank Herman and Josh Bammer hit three-run home runs and Mike Willey hit a solo homer to lead Golden West College to an 18-5 victory over De Anza Thursday in the first round of the Cypress tournament at Golden West.
Herman had two hits and scored four runs, and Bammer and Willey had two hits each. Steve McKowen and Gerald Calhorn had three hits each for Golden West (2-0).
In the Southwestern tournament:
Rancho Santiago 10, San Bernardino 0--Steve Grack, Marty Neff and Jeremy Sherman each hit home runs for Rancho Santiago in a game that was called after six innings because of the mercy rule. Grack and Neff had two RBIs each as the Dons defeated San Diego Mesa, 8-4, in the second game.
Los Angeles Harbor 6, Orange Coast 5--Los Angeles Harbor scored two runs with two outs in the ninth in the first-round game. Steve Hernandez had a single and two RBIs for OCC (3-3), which had only five hits.
