If You Ad It All Up, It Was a Record Day
The Denver Broncos took their lumps on Super Sunday and the L.A. sports fans got theirs on Monday. I’m referring to the embarrassing statistics compiled by The Times in the “Super Bowl XXIV Special (Jan. 29).”
In that 32-page extravaganza, the following records were set:
Most pages, 100% ads: 6.
Most pages, 75% or more ads: 11.
Pages with more ad space than sports: 27.
Fewest pages, no ads: 4.
Total ad area, square feet: 41.1 (67%).
Total sports area, square feet: 20.3 (33%).
