Rankin Smith Jr., the target of a paternity lawsuit, is taking a leave of absence from his job as president of the Atlanta Falcons to “get his personal matters in order,” according to the team.

A Norcross, Ga., woman, Mona Simmons Smith, alleges that Smith is the father of her 3-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter. Smith’s attorney, J. Stephen Clifford, said Smith does not deny that the children are his and has been providing child support.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said Smith, 42, has separated from his wife of 19 years.
