BIG WEST ROUNDUP : Young’s Shot Lifts San Jose Past Fresno, 61-59

Kenne Young scored 24 points, including a basket with 38 seconds remaining that gave San Jose State a 61-59 victory over Fresno State Saturday at San Jose.

Dave Barnett scored 16 points for the Bulldogs (9-12, 4-9), but missed a last-second three-pointer.

Tom Desiano added 13 points for San Jose (7-16, 4-10), including one stretch of 12 consecutive points early in the second half to keep the Spartans in the game.

Chris Henderson scored 15 points and Pat Riddlesprigger added 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Utah State 66, Pacific 63--Allen Gordon and Darrel White each scored 14 points as the Aggies defeated the Tigers at Logan, Utah.

Pacific (13-11, 6-9) led, 28-16, with 4:48 left in the first half, but White scored eight points in the final 4:20 to help Utah State cut the lead to 34-26 at halftime.

Kendall Youngblood put the Aggies (13-11, 7-6) ahead for good, 58-57, on a layup with 1:56 left. He added two free throws, Randy Funk sank two and Gordon made four in the last 27 seconds.

Del Demps scored 20 points for Pacific.
