HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS

DIVISION I

Rancho Buena Vista 81, Hilltop 42--Shawna Edge scored 26 points and Stephanie Howells 14 for Rancho Buena Vista. Debbie Cabreira scored 14 for Hilltop.

Poway 80, Southwest 31--The fourth seeded Titans were led by Christy Fortney’s 16 points, and Allison Brady and Julie Schwan’s 12 apiece. Poway led at the half, 45-12. Kara Berg pulled down seven rebounds, and Jennifer Guerena had nine assists for Poway.

Granite Hills 73, Montgomery 59--Led by Nicole Parker (18 points), Salley Wade (17) and Lisa Klingshirn (13), Granite Hills overpowered host Montgomery. Sisters Brooke (16 points) and Tish Scarborough (14) were the Aztecs leading scorers.

DIVISION II

Oceanside 59, Helix 25--Mildred Conston scored 29 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked seven shots and Angela Sims added 12 points and 15 rebounds for Oceanside.

Castle Park 64, San Marcos 39--Christina Murguia, the county’s second leading scorer (29.3 average) had a game-high 25 points and pulled down 25 rebounds. Teammate Erica Ockert added 14 points and 11 rebounds and Debbie Davis scored 12 points. For San Marcos, Tammy Hinrich finished with 16 points. Fourth seeded Castle Park meets Oceanside Friday at Chula Vista.
