2nd Round in Senior PGA Tournament Is Rained Out
Rain forced the cancellation of today’s second round of the Senior PGA Tour’s Chrysler Cup.
The round will not be made up. The tournament is scheduled to resume Saturday with team better-ball stroke play competition. Sunday’s final round will consist of eight individual stroke-play matches.
The United States took a 12-4 lead over the International team in Thursday’s first round. Another 28 points will be at stake Saturday, and 40 points will be awarded Sunday.
About an inch of rain fell during the morning today at the Tournament Players Club at Prestancia.
Team captains Arnold Palmer of the United States and Gary Player of the Internationals said they were disappointed by the cancellation.
“Everybody’s really wanting to play,” Player said. “But they certainly need the rain here in Florida.”
