WCC ROUNDUP : Gonzaga Catches USF at the Buzzer

Bret Holmdahl made a three-point basket as time expired to lift Gonzaga to a 76-75 victory over the University of San Francisco in a West Coast Conference men’s basketball game Friday night at San Francisco.

USF (8-18 overall, 4-9 in conference play) led, 73-68, in the final minutes before Gonzaga (7-19, 2-11) launched its comeback with a three-point basket by Mike Winger.

Jim McPhee of Gonzaga led all scorers with 22. Shawn Sykes led USF with 20.

St. Mary’s 83, Portland 80 (OT)--Terry Burns hit a jumper with three seconds left in overtime to lift the Gaels at Moraga, Calif.

The win snapped a seven-game St. Mary’s losing streak and raised the Gaels’ record to 4-9 in conference play, 7-18 overall. Portland dropped to 6-7 and 9-17.
