2 Women Walking on Sidewalk Hit and Killed by Car
Two elderly women were killed Saturday when a car struck them as they were walking on a sidewalk on the 2500 block of West Broadway, police said.
The driver of the car, Denise Arlene Perreira, 22, Anaheim, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs, police said.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other died at Humana Hospital-West Anaheim, police said.
The names of the victims were not released pending notification of their families.
Police said Perreira was driving east on Broadway about noon when her car veered across the street, struck the two women on the sidewalk, then crashed into a tree.
Perreira was taken to Anaheim Memorial Hospital for injuries she received in the accident.
