HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL : Orange Glen Wins Opener on No-Hitter

Scott Coleman and Jim Roby combined to throw a no-hitter for Orange Glen, and Coleman had five runs-batted in as the Patriots defeated Mar Vista, 14-0, in a season-opening Warhawk Tournament game.

Coleman hit a bases-loaded home run during Orange Glen’s six-run first inning. He also struck out nine in four innings.

“After the grand slam, his adrenaline was pumping the rest of the day,” Orange Glen Coach Ken Walker said. “He was on top of things.”

In other Warhawk Tournament games:

Serra 12, San Dieguito 9--Serra scored a total of 11 runs in the second and third innings, overcoming host San Dieguito’s eight in the first two innings.

Sean Kerr (1-0) came on in the third inning and didn’t allow a hit in four innings of work for Serra (1-0). Murry Estabrook had two hits and three RBIs for Serra and Mike Miller and Justin Wible each had two hits and two RBIs.

San Dieguito (0-1) scored four runs in the second on a three-base throwing error.

“We really played some little league baseball and looked pretty silly in the second inning, but we tied them and went ahead,” Serra Coach Ken Sovay said.

Kearny 11, Bonita Vista 4--Eddie Feistel went three for three and Jason Redondo and Jermaine Matthews each had two hits for visiting Kearny.

Castle Park 20, Valhalla 9--Jackie Sosa hit two home runs--one in the first with two on and another in the fifth with one on--for host Castle Park (1-0).

Monte Vista 2, Madison 1--Robbie Stone (1-0) pitched a one-hitter and had 14 strikeouts for host Monte Vista (1-0).

Nonleague

Grossmont 5-18, Calexico 3-2--Scott Brennan went six for six and had six RBIs, including a three-run home run, as host Grossmont (2-0) swept.
