HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Castillo, Louisville Trounce Nordhoff in Softball, 12-0

The Louisville High girls’ softball team scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Friday and then eased to 12-0 victory over Nordhoff in a nonleague game at Louisville.

Pitcher Sophia Castillo threw a three-hitter, struck out 10 and walked none.

Madette Soliman and Alycia Schlesinger had two hits for Louisville (2-2), which had nine hits--all singles.

In other softball games:

Moorpark 3, L. A. Baptist 2 (8 innings)--Solie Barrera drove in the winning run with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning in a nonleague game at Moorpark.

For L. A. Baptist (0-3), Amanda Pagarigan struck out nine and allowed only three hits.

Bell-Jeff 5, Providence 0--Andee Ferchaw was three for four and Tammy Sanchez was two for four in a nonleague game at Bell-Jeff (2-2).

Montclair Prep 19, Holy Family 0--Freshman Shanna Hernandez (2-2) threw a no-hitter in a nonleague game at Holy Family that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Maria Cicione had a two doubles, a triple and three RBIs for the Mounties (2-2).

Hoover 22, St. Genevieve 0--Nancy Evans threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking one in a nonleague game at St. Genevieve that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Agoura 3, Oak Park 0--Melissa Thatcher pitched a complete game for host Agoura in a nonleague game, striking out six and scattering six hits.

Thatcher also drove in two runs.

L. A. Lutheran 9, Viewpoint 6 (9 innings)--Carrie Schaumann’s double keyed a seven-run rally in the ninth inning of a Heritage League opener at Viewpoint.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Taft d. Marshall, 15-3, 15-2, 15-1--Matt Davis had 10 kills and five blocks for Taft (2-0) in a nonleague match at home.
