CHAMPAIGN, Ill. —
The University of Illinois football team began spring practice without quarterback Jeff George, who is still trying to decide whether to turn pro.
Coach John Mackovic decided to keep George on the sidelines Monday, even though the player was willing to take part in drills. Mackovic said that, for the sake of team continuity, he didn’t want George to play a few days and then leave.
