Ware Reportedly Set to Enter NFL Draft

Houston quarterback Andre Ware, the 1989 Heisman Trophy winner, will enter the 1990 NFL draft, forgoing his senior season at Houston, The Houston Post reported Wednesday.

However, Houston Coach John Jenkins said the report was premature, and Cougar wide receiver Manny Hazard said he thought Ware still was undecided.

Ware could not be reached for comment. The Post said a major factor in Ware’s decision is the possibility of an entry-level wage scale being considered by the NFL that would significantly reduce the size of rookie contracts.
