Weekend TV : Viewers Tested on ‘Pet Health’; Bushes on ‘Love in Public Eye’

Dogs, gossip and desegregation blossom on the small screen for this first weekend of spring.

The “Pet Health Test,” airing today at 4:30 p.m. on KCBS Channel 2, provides answers to such questions as how to housebreak a puppy and what household items are most dangerous to pets. Dr. Frank Field hosts.

Famous couples talk about their personal lives on “Mary Hart Presents: Love in the Public Eye,” Sunday at 6 p.m. on Channel 4. Among those divulging their romantic secrets are President and Mrs. Bush, Vice President and Mrs. Dan Quayle, Wayne Gretzky and his wife Janet Jones and newlyweds Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold.

Also Sunday, the first installment of the two-part drama, “Common Ground,” based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book about the events surrounding the desegregation of Boston public schools in the ‘60s and ‘70s, airs at 9 p.m. on Channels 2 and 8. Jane Curtin, Richard Thomas, C.C.H. Pounder and James Farentino star in this miniseries, which concludes Tuesday.
