SIDELINES : CSU Long Beach Tabs Greenberg
CSU Long Beach moved swiftly to fill its head basketball coaching vacancy today, naming assistant Seth Greenberg to replace Joe Harrington, who hours earlier accepted the job at Colorado.
Long Beach was to make a formal announcement at 4 p.m.
Greenberg, 33, has served as an assistant coach the last 12 years at five Division I schools. He has spent the last three seasons with the 49ers under Harrington.
Before moving to Long Beach, Greenberg was an assistant at the University of Miami (Fla.) when its basketball program was reinstated in 1985-86. He also coached at Virginia--helping the Cavaliers to a Final Four appearance in 1984--and at Pittsburgh and Columbia.
