PREP ROUNDUP : Ocean View’s Kimble Pitches Softball No-Hitter
Jennifer Kimble pitched a no-hitter to lead Ocean View High School to a 2-0 victory over Westminster in a Sunset League softball game at Ocean View Friday.
Kimble (7-5) struck out 12 and also had an RBI triple for Ocean View (9-5, 1-1).
In other Sunset League softball:
Fountain Valley 1, Edison 0--Rae Rice (7-0) pitched a one-hitter, striking out 10 and walking none to lead visiting Fountain Valley (10-3, 2-0).
In nonleague softball:
Santiago 10, Laguna Beach 9--Host Santiago scored seven runs in the second but had to hang on for the victory.
In Academy League softball:
Liberty Christian 14, Cal Lutheran 6--Amy Coffman had three hits, two runs and two RBIs to lead Liberty Christian (10-3, 3-0).
In South Coast league volleyball:
El Toro 3, San Clemente 0--Kevin Martin had eight kills to lead host El Toro (8-2, 4-1) to a 15-3, 15-8, 15-3 victory.
In Sea View League volleyball:
Newport Harbor 3, Saddleback 0--Ian Juberg had 10 kills to lead visiting Newport Harbor (4-4, 3-1) to a 15-0, 15-7, 15-0 victory.
Corona del Mar 3, University 1--Clark Brogger had 17 kills and 10 blocks to lead visiting Corona del Mar (4-2, 4-0) to a 15-8, 15-7, 9-15, 15-7 victory.
In Garden Grove League volleyball:
La Quinta 3, Pacifica 0--Paul Price had 10 kills to lead host La Quinta (9-1, 8-0) to a 15-6, 17-15, 15-6 victory.
In Angelus League tennis:
Servite 10, Mater Dei 8--Eric Gonda and Edgar Padilla won, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles for Servite (7-4, 6-2).
In Orange League tennis:
Valencia 16, Savanna 2--The doubles team of Huey Dang and Ron Lacuata won, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, to lead visiting Valencia (13-1, 9-0).
In nonleague golf:
Huntington Beach 387, Millikan 408--Jeff Gibson shot a two-over par 74 to lead Huntington Beach (10-1) at SeaCliff. The teams played the first nine holes at El Dorado on Wednesday.
