PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : After Wild Start, Schade Finishes With No-Hitter

After hitting the first two batters he faced, Jason Schade pitched a no-hitter as El Modena High School defeated Leuzinger, 2-0, in a semifinal game of the Pride of the Coast tournament Tuesday at Corona del Mar High.
Schade (4-2), a senior right-hander, walked two and struck out six.
El Modena (7-5) scored two runs in the second inning when Bill Fischer singled, Jay McGrath doubled and Ken Manell singled both home.
In the other semifinal game:
Estancia 4, Artesia 3--Greg Brannis pitched a five-hitter at Estancia. The Eagles (11-5) took a 2-0 lead in the second on a squeeze bunt by Danny Ucker and a RBI triple by Gary Burrows. Estancia scored two more in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead.
In a consolation-round game:
Lynwood 2, Orange Lutheran 1--Lynwood scored the winning run on a squeeze play in the bottom of the seventh after Mark Carrillo tied the score for Orange Lutheran (10-5) with a sacrifice fly in the top of the inning at Newport Harbor.
Bolsa Grande 6, La Mirada 4--Rick Tantardini hit a two-run home run in the fifth to break a 4-4 tie for Bolsa Grande (4-10-1).
In the Anaheim Lions tournament championship semifinals:
Anaheim 3, Sonora 1--Sammy Serna doubled in a run and Danny Castro hit a two-run single for Anaheim in the fifth inning at Glover Stadium. Zeke Barrios (2-0) allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked none for Anaheim (9-6-1).
In the consolation round:
Kennedy 9, Troy 2--Rod Rosales was three for four with two RBIs and Craig Roah was two for three and scored twice for Kennedy (7-9). Scott Jones (2-1) got the victory.
University 10, Riordan 5--Billy Thompson, Aaron Butler and Brian Vail had two hits each for University (8-8).
Dana Hills 8, Garden Grove 7--Mike Robertson hit a two-run double and Aaron Kokx went three for three with an RBI for Dana Hills (10-7) at Brookhurst Park in Anaheim.
