In the third-place game:

Sonora 5, Sunny Hills 4--Scott Debie hit a bases-loaded triple to cap a four-run seventh inning for Sonora (9-7) at La Palma Stadium. Scott Oxarart went four for four for Sonora, which had lost to Sunny Hills, 13-3, in Freeway League play earlier this season.

In consolation-round games:

Troy 1, Canyon 0--Tim Hostetler’s run-scoring single with two out in the seventh broke up a pitching duel between Troy’s Guy Pinelli and Canyon’s Mike Casagranda at Brookhurst Park.

Pinelli, a junior left-hander, retired the first 14 batters before allowing a single to John Schumacher in the fifth. He finished with a two-hitter for Troy (5-7).

Casagranda struck out six and walked none, allowing only three hits until Jason Gudzunas tripled with two out in the seventh and scored on Hostetler’s hit.

University 6, Dana Hills 6 (time limit)--Todd Futa and Jeff Wolter hit back-to-back doubles to drive in two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the score for Dana Hills. Aaron Butler went two for four with two RBIs for University.

Westminster 5, Western 4--Jason Child and Greg Cantin each had two hits, scored and had one RBI to lead Westminster (5-12-1).

Westminster took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and had a 5-0 lead going into top of sixth inning, Western scored four in the top of the sixth at Brookhurst Park.
