Baseball must share the spotlight with hockey and boxing among this weekend’s sports viewing choices on television.

The Dodgers are featured in CBS’ first Major League Baseball telecast since 1965, with the Houston Astros providing the opposition. Coverage begins at 10 a.m. today on Channels 2 and 8. The same two teams meet at 11:30 a.m. Sunday on Channel 11.

ESPN, whose coverage in the early days of this season has established it as the successor to NBC as the baseball network, debuts its Sunday-night game schedule with the Montreal Expos hosting the New York Mets at 5 p.m. Zane Smith, who was 1-13 last season but whose salary this season will be $660,000, is scheduled to pitch for Montreal against Dwight Gooden.

In hockey, the Kings remain on the brink of ousting the defending Stanley Cup champion for the second consecutive season and again could break many hearts in the province of Alberta with a win over the Calgary Flames tonight. Prime Ticket’s telecast of the Smythe Division semifinal sixth game begins at 7:30 p.m.

Two-thirds of boxing’s middleweight championship will be decided today. Mike McCallum defends the World Boxing Assn. version against Michael Watson at 4:30 p.m. on ABC’s “Wide World of Sports” (Channels 7, 3, 42), while undefeated Michael Nunn of Agoura Hills risks his International Boxing Federation championship against Marlon Starling at 7 p.m. on Home Box Office.
