USC’s Emanuel Goes to Giants, Spears to Saints

USC running back Aaron Emanuel was chosen in the 10th round of the NFL draft today by the New York Giants.

Emanuel, a 6-2, 225-pound tailback, was the 191st player chosen as the draft went into a second day. Emanuel was a prep All-American at Quartz Hill High School in the Antelope Valley before he joined the Trojans.

Another Trojan, defensive back Ernest Spears, was chosen by the New Orleans Saints in the 10th round. Spears was the 267th pick overall.

And USC tight end Scott Galbraith was drafted 178th by Cleveland, using a pick obtained from Miami.

UCLA linebacker Marvcus Patton was drafted by Buffalo in the eighth round. The Bills, using a choice obtained from Kansas City, made Patton the 208th player selected.

Bruin center Frank Cornish was picked by San Diego, using a pick obtained from New England through Dallas. Cornish was the 143rd player drafted.

In the sixth round of the draft today, the Raiders obtained Marcus Wilson, a running back from Virginia.

The Rams chose Tim Stallworth, a wide receiver from Washington State, in the sixth round.

In the seventh round, the Raiders obtained defensive back Garry Lewis, who attended Alcorn State. The Raider picked Lewis using a pick obtained from Chicago.

The Rams chose punter Kent Elmore of Tennessee in the seventh round.

In the eighth round, the Raiders, Using a choice obtained from New England through Dallas, drafted cornerback Arther Jimerson of Norfolk State. The Rams chose Elbert Crawford, a center from Arkansas.

Later, the Raiders chose James Syzymanski, a defensive end from Michigan State, and the Rams chose Steven Bates, a defensive end from James Madison.
