COMMUNITY COLLEGE TENNIS ROUNDUP : Saddleback Wins Team, Doubles Titles

Saddleback College won the team title and doubles title and Cypress’ John Swaino won the singles title Sunday at the Southern California Regional men’s tennis tournament at College of the Desert.
Saddleback finished with 19 points, followed by Santa Barbara (12) and Cypress (11).
Swaino, who won the Orange Empire Conference title last week, defeated Santa Barbara’s John Fox, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, to take the singles championship.
In the semifinals, Swaino defeated Saddleback’s Scott Hansen, 6-3, 6-3, and Fox beat Carl Hinds of Saddleback, 6-4, 6-1.
Hinds and Stan Sanders won the doubles title. The pair defeated Swaino and Bob Carlton, 6-2, 6-2.
It was the fourth time the teams have met this season. Hinds and Sanders won an earlier conference meeting in addition to Sunday’s match.
