SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL, SOFTBALL PAIRINGS : Kennedy Hits Road; Mater Dei, El Toro at Home

Kennedy High School, the Southern Section’s defending 3-A baseball champion, lost a coin flip and will travel to Hesperia to play a second-round game Tuesday.
Kennedy was on the road for its first-round game, defeating Laguna Hills, 3-2, in a four-hour, 12-inning game Friday.
Mater Dei won a coin flip and will play host to Lakewood in the featured game of the 5-A division. Lakewood was the 5-A runner-up last year.
Second-seeded El Toro won a coin flip and will play host to Troy in the 4-A. El Toro was hitless for five innings and struggled to beat unranked LaSalle, 1-0, in the first round.
The second-round pairings for Tuesday; all games will start at 3:15 p.m.:
5-A Division
Lakewood (22-4) at Mater Dei (19-8); Marina (13-12-1) at Esperanza (20-6); West Covina (18-6) at Ocean View (20-7); Katella (21-5) at Alemany (14-13).
4-A Division
Buena (20-5-2) at Canyon (13-12-1); Paramount (15-4) at Magnolia (13-10); Brea-Olinda (17-8-1) at Covina (19-7); Troy (15-9) at El Toro (21-6).
3-A Division
Central (20-5-2) at Tustin (23-3); El Monte (13-9) at La Quinta (20-8); Kennedy (15-13) at Hesperia (17-8); Santiago (18-7) at Orange (16-10).
2-A Division
Orange Lutheran (19-6) at San Marino (19-2-1).
Small Schools Division
Southern California Christian (12-4) at Apple Valley Christian (20-0-1).
Buena Park and Valencia were the only 4-A county teams awarded home games when coin flips were held Saturday to determine sites for Wednesday’s second round of the Southern Section softball playoffs.
In 1-A, Santa Margarita, will play host to Western Christian. All second-round games are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

4-A Division
Pacifica (13-8) at Hacienda Heights Wilson (18-5); Savanna (24-7) at Glendale (19-2); Garden Grove (22-4-1) at San Marcos (18-8); Cresenta Valley (24-2) at Buena Park (17-3-2); Kennedy (22-3-1) at Valencia (21-9).
1-A Division
Western Christian (19-4) at Santa Margarita (15-3).
