Police arrested a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly firing shots from a BB gun Tuesday at a Moorpark middle school.

The boy, who was being held at Juvenile Hall, did not fire at or injure anyone at Chaparral Middle School, 280 Poindexter Ave., said Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Montijo.

The youth was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and resisting arrest, Montijo said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call reporting a suspicious subject with a rifle at the school, Montijo said. When deputies arrived, they discovered the boy, who fled. Deputies chased him for about three minutes before catching him in a nearby drainage ditch, Montijo said.
