Woman Is Apparent Drowning Victim
The body of an 18-year-old pregnant woman who apparently drowned Wednesday was found floating face down in a bathtub, authorities said.
Lorena Masedonio was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange, Santa Ana Police Lt. Earl Porter said. Her 7-month-old fetus died shortly after doctors delivered it, he said.
Masedonio apparently went to take a bath in her apartment in the 800 block of Townsend Street about 6:13 p.m., Porter said.
Occupants of the apartment became concerned after hearing the bath water flowing for about 20 minutes, Porter said. They knocked on the locked bathroom door, and when they did not hear a reply they dismantled the door and found Masedonio’s body, he said.
An autopsy was pending.
