Coverage of Soccer Is Missed by Some
Buried in the sports section today (May 25) was an obscure reference to the World Cup soccer championships that will begin in Italy on June 8. The rest of the world press is excitedly building up to the largest sporting event outside of the Olympics (soccer fans will argue that point) in the past four years. I have been looking daily for some sort of reasonable coverage of this event, but it has been negligible. On the other hand, the front page had a 25-year-old story about the Clay-Liston fight.
The insular attitude on the part of The Times makes me wonder what else of importance is going on in the world that is selectively omitted from your pages.
