A Fountain Valley woman has filed a $5,000-a-month paternity suit against Andre Romell Young, better known as Dr. Dre of the controversial rap group N.W.A.

Jenita Porter, 22, said in the suit, filed in Orange County Superior Court, that although Young promised to support their 2-year-old son before his birth, she has received only a small amount of cash, a few gifts and diapers during their four-year relationship, which ended in January.

The suit also asks for an undetermined amount of back child support.

“The basic reason for the suit is that he made numerous promises to support the child and has kept none,” said Bryant Calloway, an attorney with the law firm representing Porter.

In a legal answer to the suit, Young, 25, who is on tour with N.W.A. in London and could not be reached for comment, admits being the father of the child but says he only promised to pay $500 a month in support.

Young is the backbone of N.W.A., which is known for its often graphically sexual lyrics.

The group’s current album, which Young produced, is entitled “Straight Outta Compton” and boasts a number of songs that some advocate groups say encourage violence.

The group’s reputation reached the height of controversy last year when one of the album’s songs prompted Milt Ahlerich, the FBI’s assistant director, to write a letter to the group’s record company arguing that the song encouraged violence and disrespect toward police.

Before joining N.W.A., Young was the lead singer of the group Dr. Dre and the Wrecking Crew, and he currently produces albums for the rap groups D.O.C., Above the Law, Easy E and J.J. Fad and for the female R&B; singer Michel’le.

Before leaving the country, Young also produced the Warner Bros. album “We’re All in the Same Gang,” which features rap stars Ice T, Young M.C. and Tone Loc. The proceeds from the album will be given to a Los Angeles inner-city group fighting gang violence.
