Burgess Named Coach at Rancho Bernardo

Randy Burgess, who guided Coronado High School to five San Diego Section water polo titles in his seven years as coach, was named Friday to head the program at Rancho Bernardo High School.

Rancho Bernardo is scheduled to open in September, with Burgess beginning spring practices next week with students currently at Poway and Mt. Carmel. He will teach health and assist Jeff Ukrainetz in the swimming program.

Burgess coached at Coronado from 1981-84 and ‘87-90. His teams reached the section final in each of those years except 1981 and have won the section title the past three years.
