SHORT TAKES : Francis to Join ‘All My Children’

Former “General Hospital” soap opera star Genie Francis will join the cast of ABC’s “All My Children,” the network announced Wednesday.
Francis, who played Laura on “General Hospital,” gave the soap the highest ratings in daytime TV history when her character got married in 1981.
The risque romance between “Luke and Laura” made the cover of Newsweek. Francis left the show in 1984 and appeared in a number of mediocre television miniseries. On “All My Children,” Francis will play Ceara Conner, a femme fatale in the fictional town of Pine Valley.
