SIDELINES : USF Athletic Director Resigns

SAN FRANCISCO —
Father Robert A. Sunderland, the University of San Francisco athletic director the last seven years, quit today.
Sunderland said he will stay on until Nov. 1 so the Dons can find a replacement. He did not disclose his plans.
Before becoming athletic director, he served as dean of men, vice president for student affairs and assistant director of admissions.
From 1972 to 1982 he was editorial director of KGO-TV in San Francisco.
