Fireworks Fears Force Mulholland Closure

Share

An unpaved portion of Mulholland Drive that in the past has drawn hundreds of fireworks spectators was closed from 6 p.m. to midnight Wednesday because of fears that tinder-dry brush might catch fire.

Closure of the five-mile dirt stretch between Encino Hills Drive and Trinidad Road was the first of its kind on Mulholland Drive, fire officials said.

“Kids go up there in four-wheel-drives, and sometimes they get a little bit carried away,” Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief John Adams said.
