NAMES IN THE NEWS : Fans Back Arco Stadium Plan
Several hundred fans have sent in money to reserve the right to buy seats at Gregg Lukenbill’s planned Arco Park stadium after last week’s request for public support, spokesman Mike Seward said.
Lukenbill, in a half-hour video broadcast on Channel 12 last Thursday, asked for the so-called ticket “reservation fees” to help him gain financing for the $120-million baseball and football stadium.
“We have several hundreds of seats already reserved with money in the bank,” Seward said. “The way the phones are ringing, by the end of this week there are going to be several thousand seats actually paid for.”
Those who sent in money for the reservations, from $250 to $1,250 per seat, were only buying the right to purchase a ticket to the stadium. The actual ticket prices will be extra.
