Man Arrested in Sex Slaying of 14-Month-Old
A man suspected in the sexual torture-slaying of his girlfriend’s 14-month-old daughter earlier this month was arrested Tuesday in Escondido, authorities said.
Wayne Ichija Yoshisato, 26, was arrested on a no-bail warrant alleging first-degree murder with special circumstances that could result in a death sentence if he is convicted, Police Lt. Ed McErlain said.
Yoshisato, an unemployed laborer, is accused in the July 10 beating death of Felicia Grunbaum, the daughter of Yoshisato’s 19-year-old girlfriend, Pepper Grunbaum.
Details of the investigation leading to Yoshisato’s arrest were not immediately disclosed.
Coroner’s investigators determined that the child’s death was a result of head injuries and that she had been sexually assaulted.
