LOCAL : Fire Damages Hollywood Studio
Fire raced through a two-story studio building in Hollywood early this morning, causing an estimated $2.6 million in damage to a sound stage and adjacent offices.
At its peak, 115 firefighters from 23 fire companies fought the blaze that began just after 2 a.m. at Late Night Studios on Vine Street near La Mirada, officials said. There were no injuries, although a nearby apartment house and office building were threatened for a time.
The studio reportedly was built in the 1920s and most recently was being readied for use in music video productions. A fire spokesman said the cause was under investigation.
