Birmingham’s Larson Signs With Phillies
Birmingham High outfielder Danny Larson signed a professional baseball contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, Phillie scout Dave Sirak said.
The Phillies drafted Larson in the third round of the June amateur draft.
Larson, who was offered scholarships to Cal State Northridge and USC, will be assigned to Martinsville, Va., in the Class-A Appalachian League, where he will join Westlake High catcher Mike Lieberthal, the Phillies’ first pick.
Larson had a .377 batting average as a senior at Birmingham.
