76ers Name Shue General Manager
Former Clipper coach Gene Shue returned to the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday, this time as general manager.
Shue, 58, succeeds John Nash, who became general manager of the Washington Bullets. Terms of Shue’s two-year contract were not disclosed.
Owner Harold Katz also announced that Bob Weinhauer has been promoted from director of player personnel and chief scout to assistant general manager. Katz made it clear that he will continue to make final decisions in all aspects of the club’s operations.
“Gene’s job will be to filter all information to the group so we can make decisions,” Katz said. Shue coached the clippers in 1978-80 and 1987-89.
