Truck Driver, Motorcyclist Killed
A Saugus man driving a pickup truck and an unidentified motorcyclist were killed in a head-on collision Tuesday evening on a road north of Santa Clarita, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Vasquez Canyon Road between Bouquet Canyon Road and Sierra Highway, north of Santa Clarita. A four-mile stretch of Vasquez Canyon Road was closed to traffic for several hours while emergency crews cleared the wreckage.
The accident occurred when the motorcyclist, heading west, crossed over the center divider and hit the oncoming truck, which overturned.
The truck driver’s identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.
