Tip Lefebvre has been hired as the baseball coach at Santa Margarita High School, Athletic Director Rich Schaaf said Wednesday.

Lefebvre, brother of Seattle Mariner Manager Jim Lefebvre, has been an assistant coach at UCLA the past three years. He replaces Ray Huntington, who resigned at the end of last season. A former catcher in the Dodger organization, Tip Lefebvre was the pitching coach for the Phoenix Giants in 1984-86. He also was the head coach at Pius X High from 1969-72.

The Eagles were 8-15 overall and 6-8 in the Olympic League last season, their first on the varsity level. Santa Margarita, which opened in 1987, will have its first senior class this year.
