Tight end Clint Didier, a member of three Super Bowl teams while with the Washington Redskins, retired today after two seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
Didier, who had caught 12 passes since signing with the Packers as a free agent in 1988, will return home to Eltopia, Wash., to be with his family, team officials said.
Didier finished his eight-year career with 141 catches for 1,923 yards and 21 touchdowns, including two for the Packers the last two seasons. His best seasons were with the Redskins. He caught 30 passes in 1984, 41 in 1985 and 34 in 1986.
Injuries limited him to nine games in 1987, but he started Super Bowl XXII after that season and caught an 8-yard touchdown pass for the Redskins against the Denver Broncos. He was released by the Redskins the following season.
With the Packers the last two seasons, he started only four games and also played on special teams.
