SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Chief Honcho spurted away in the last furlong under Mike Smith to beat Senator To Be by three-quarters of a length in Sunday’s $112,800 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
Chief Honcho, who raced close to the lead through the first mile, covered the final furlong in less than 12 seconds to beat Senator To Be, the leader throughout the opening mile.
Paradise Found was third, a neck behind Senator To Be, in the field of four 3-year-olds. Sir Richard Lewis, the betting favorite, trailed the field.
