A brush fire believed to be ignited by lightning was under control Monday after burning about 125 acres in Angeles National Forest west of Lancaster, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.

The fire, which started about 6 p.m. Sunday during an electrical storm, burned in an undeveloped area near 200th Street West and Lancaster Road, said county fire dispatcher Ronald Coffin. No structures were endangered. A helicopter and a crew of more than 50 contained the fire by Monday afternoon.

Coffin said about a dozen other fires started by lightning strikes in the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys were quickly put out Sunday night after burning only a few acres.
