Shots Fired From Car Kill Woman, 68, on Her Porch
A 68-year-old woman was shot and killed, apparently an innocent victim of a gang clash, while sitting on the front porch of her Walnut Park home with her son and grandson Thursday afternoon, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies reported.
Deputies said two carloads of suspected rival gang members were passing the house when the occupants of one of the cars started shooting at the occupants of the other.
But all three shots went astray and one bullet struck Anna Owens in the chest, barely missing her 9-month-old grandson who was sitting on her lap, deputies said. Owens was dead at the scene.
There were no other injuries and no suspects were in custody.
