A Canoga Park man was hospitalized and in stable condition Sunday evening after having been shot in the groin by his estranged wife, Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies said.

William McClelland, 60, was shot about 4 p.m. Sunday by his wife, Pearl McClelland, 47, during an argument at her Thousand Oaks house, deputies said. The two were separated or divorced, authorities said, and he was at her house to repair damage he had caused on a prior occasion.

The two began to argue, and she left the room and returned with a loaded revolver, firing one shot into her husband’s groin, deputies said. She called authorities and he took the gun from her and drove the two of them to Westlake Hospital, where he was admitted and she was arrested on charges of attempted murder.
