Wide receiver Rickey Sanders of the Washington Redskins was indicted for assault in an altercation with a parking lot worker outside a nightclub in Houston on May 1.
A Harris County grand jury declined to indict Sanders on attempted murder charges stemming from the incident, after a recommendation from the prosecutor.
Sanders, 27, of Ashburn, Va., must be in state District Judge Donald Shipley’s court Friday for arraignment. If convicted, Sanders faces two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 for a charge of aggravated assault, and up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine on a charge of failing to stop and render aid.
