COUNTYWIDE : Board Likely to OK 3 Cities’ Contracts

Share

The County Board of Supervisors is expected Tuesday to sign contracts with three cities in line for community development block grants totaling $478,325.

The grants, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, are a portion of $1.9 million that the supervisors divide among six cities. The contracts would authorize the cities to implement and manage the funds this year and in 1991.

Santa Paula, expecting $186,298, will use $90,000 for low-interest loans to help homeowners rehabilitate their houses.

The city will use the rest of the funds to make the civic center buildings accessible to handicapped people and to renovate the Boys and Girls Club building.

Moorpark plans to use $171,090 for water, sewer and street improvements, affordable housing, and services including Moorpark Literacy Program, the ombudsman for the homeless, Channel Counties Legal Services, senior nutrition coordinator, and Youth Connection.

Fillmore intends to use $120,937 to buy land on which to build a facility for the Boys and Girls Club of Fillmore.

Contracts with Camarillo, Ojai and Port Hueneme have not come before the supervisors.
