Raider Rookie Lewis to Start at Cornerback
Rookie Garry Lewis will replace Terry McDaniel at cornerback in the Raiders’ season opener against the Denver Broncos Sunday at the Coliseum. McDaniel has been sidelined by a hamstring injury.
Lewis, a seventh-round draft choice from Alcorn State, is the second rookie to start in the Raider defensive backfield since Jack Tatum in 1971. McDaniel started as a rookie in 1988.
Defensive end Howie Long, who moved to the right side of the Raider line during the exhibition season, has apparently returned to the left side, with Scott Davis going to the right side.
