The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired outfielder-infielder Lloyd McClendon, 31, from the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named by Oct. 5.

The Pirates claimed McClendon when the Cubs put him on waivers. The Cubs chose not to withdraw waivers with the stipulation they receive the player to be named.

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired two pitchers from the Mets as part of a trade that sent catcher Charlie O’Brien to New York on Aug. 31.

The Brewers also called up pitcher Narciso Elvira.
