Saugus 28, South Pasadena 0--Quarterback Jeff Hickman led the Centurions to a 14-0 lead in the first half and Rich Gutierrez directed their offense in the second half.
Hickman completed 10 of 13 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown, and Gutierrez completed his only pass of the game, a screen pass that David Doyle turned into a 70-yard touchdown for Saugus’ final score.
Doyle, who had nine carries for 32 yards and three receptions for 96 yards, scored the Centurions’ first touchdown on a six-yard run in the second quarter.
After an errant snap on a punt, Saugus took over on South Pasadena’s 24-yard line and scored with seven seconds left in the half when Hickman hit Alex Flores with a 30-yard touchdown pass.
In the third quarter, Flores blocked a South Pasadena punt on the 14-yard line and Todd Tomlinson fell on the ball in the end zone.
