COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titan Women Get Split in Volleyball

Cal State Fullerton split its second-round matches Friday, losing to Oregon, 15-1, 15-4, 17-15, and defeating Baylor, 15-5, 15-3, 12-15, 15-4, in the first round of consolation matches at the Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball tournament.

In the victory over Baylor, freshman Becky Howlett led Fullerton with 14 kills and three blocks. Freshman Michelle Paul added 10 blocks.

California, Oregon and Oregon State are 4-0 in the tournament.

Fullerton will play Fresno State at 10 a.m. today in the consolation championship bracket.

In the New Mexico Men’s Soccer Classic:

Creighton 2, Cal State Fullerton 1--Creighton scored twice in the second half to defeat Fullerton (1-1-1). Raul Haro scored for the Titans.

In the consolation round of the Far West Classic:

Southern California College 3, Hawaii Pacific 1--Greg Olson scored twice to lead Southern California College (1-2) in a consolation soccer match at Pacific Lutheran College in Tacoma, Wash. The Vanguards led, 1-0, at halftime, but Hawaii Pacific tied the score early in the second half. Ramone Miramontes scored to give SCC the lead midway through the second half and then Olson clinched the victory with five minutes left.
