Shattered Peace
Concerning Mr. G.G. Carbonetti’s letter (Sept. 7) suggesting that El Toro MCAS be relocated allowing commercial flights to be directed to the facility in El Toro, I must disagree.
As a resident of Laguna Hills, my neighborhood is in the approach lane to El Toro MCAS. Before our military buildup in the Mideast, the daily traffic of small jets and planes was of no real significance.
Since then, our days and nights have been shattered with the deafening house-shaking disruptions of military transports, jets the same size as those that would compete for gates at a commercial airport at the facility. Just as unnerving as the tremendous noise is the thought of an accident each time we hear one approaching.
Let’s consider the impact on the area residents while trying to resolve our problem of airport congestion in Orange County.
