From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

An electronic signal from a stolen car equipped with the Lojack anti-theft system led police to a yard where they found two stolen vehicles, parts stripped from several others and about $50,000 worth of other stolen property, Los Angeles police said today.

The operation that officers interrupted may be part of a car-theft ring that specialized in stealing Jeeps and taking them to Guadalajara, Mexico, said Officer Bob Weisz of the police Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network.

A Jeep Cherokee equipped with the Lojack device was taken Saturday from the Marina del Rey area. Sunday night, officers on patrol in South Los Angeles picked up the system’s electronic signal. The signal was tracked to the backyard of a home in the 4900 block of Wall St. at about 7 p.m.
