RACING BRIEFS : Beyond Perfection Will Meet 9 Rivals at Fairplex Park Race
Beyond Perfection, fresh off a smashing triumph in the Del Mar Debutante, meets nine rivals Wednesday afternoon at Fairplex Park in the initial running of the $150,000-guaranteed Barrett’s Debutante at 6 1/2 furlongs.
Julio Garcia has the mount Wednesday; Beyond Perfection will carry 120 pounds, spotting her rivals three to seven pounds. She breaks from the rail slot.
Breaking outside Beyond Perfection, a winner twice in three lifetime outings, are Consulate, ridden by David Flores, 115 pounds; Gray Legion Lady, Ray Sibille, 113; Passion For Poker, Martin Pedroza, 113; Illini Squaw, Omar Berrio, 113; Lucky Paster, Corey Black, 113; Air Phoenix, Jesus Castanon, 113; Skoblikova, Ron Hansen, 113; Mi Lucia, Russell Baze, 117, and Ladies Don’t Lie, Corey Nakatani, 115.
On the also-eligible list are Never Better, Joy Scott, 113; Mogambo Gold, Frank Olivares, 113; Marfa’s Lady, Nakatani named in a second call at 113; Settle The Score, Danny Sorenson, 113, and Dynamite Dana, Tony Noguez, 113.
The Barrett’s Debutante is restricted to fillies that passed through the Barrett’s 2-year-olds in training sales of March and May. The sales complex is on the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona and debuted with the March sale.
